Scofield Ice Fishing Tournament

Cory and Don have made a tradition of going to the Scofield Ice fishing tournament, when they can. This year it was held on December 27. We went and stayed at the cabin Friday night and they got up bright and early to freeze their butts off. When they first got out there he told Cory, "I'm not going out there in -4 degrees farenheit." Don is a trooper. He caught a 16 inch fish. He was 5 inches and a pound away from the winner of the contest. Although they don't have a kid category. He was the only kid after all. You would think they would have a special prize for him.

He won an ice fishing bucket with a seat from the raffle and he was proud at least he got something out of his day. He just likes having a Dad and Don day.

What Inspires This Child?!

Tyler runs out of his bedroom wearing this shirt yesterday, and yelling ready for bakugan battle. My husband and I both look at him and can't figure out what he is talking about. He tells us this is his bakugan battle shirt. He wrote bakugan on it, so that he can use it for battling. We ask him why he did it. His words "It is okay, I used washable marker, it will come out." What inspires this child to do these things? I haven't quite figured him out yet. We just had to laugh and hope it will wash out today as I do laundry. I had to get pictures first. I didn't want to take pictures while he had it on, I didn't want to encourage him anymore.

What Have I been doing?

For the last week between holiday baking and getting ready for Christmas, I haven't sat down to blog. Last Wednesday and Thursday I created a huge mess in my kitchen making 24 dozen cinnamon rolls in two days. Somehow I started making them for Christmas. It is the only thing I know how to make. My kitchen was a disaster by the time I was done. Not to mention my house!

My mom took my kids home yesterday. I finally got my Christmas presents wrapped. You can't wrap presents with a 4 year old around that tells everyone what they are getting. It is a little lonely sitting home alone. Next year when all three kids are in school will be a little lonely, I discovered.

I got all of my laundry done in one day for the first time in months without interruptions. It is amazing how much you can do without your kids home. My house is clean for Christmas, we are going to visit my parents and bring the kids home Christmas Eve.

One perk, I actually got to spend a night alone with my hubby last night. It has been a while since we have been able to do that. We got to go out to dinner and enjoy ourselves and actually have a conversation.

Gingerbread House In the Making

Every year somebody gives us a gingerbread house. I dread having to make it with my kids even though it is something that they love to do. This year and last, our neighbor that Tyler adores gave us a kit. They have been bugging me for a week and a half to do it. I finally got around to doing it tonight. Since dad was home to help in the mess making even
though this year it wasn't too bad.

Temple Square Fiasco or Fun?!

So we went to Temple Square with Cory's whole family last night. What is crazier than going on a Friday night you ask? Going with 20 kids under the age of 14! We had a really good time, it was just insane trying to keep track of that many people. Not to mention we didn't even make it there until 9:00 p.m. My kids really enjoyed going to Temple Square with their cousins and it brought the meaning of Christmas with family to life. Here are a few pictures. We had to park across the street from the State Capitol building and of course my crazy husband would have to find something nutty to do to make the night exciting. I Don't Want To Go To School!!!

My Ty is quite the guy! We had to fight him all morning to go to school today. Come to find out he wore a Jazz wristband to school yesterday and got it taken away for playing with it during learning time on the carpet. He didn't tell me about it until bedtime last night.
We had to go in and ask his teacher for the wristband back today cause there was no way in heck he was asking for it back. In his eyes he got in trouble yesterday.
I went in and asked his teacher if he got in trouble yesterday and she said,"Tyler never gets in trouble, he is a wonderful student."
I know, if you know Tyler, hard to believe. So she had to explain to him we can't play during learning time and she would let him try and wear it today if he wanted to. No way, No how, mom had to take it home and he was not staying for school.
Finally after 20 minutes of coaxing (luckily we went early to talk to his teacher), we finally conned him into staying at school. It is hard when you have a stinker that is very tenderhearted.
We will have to see how school went in about an hour.

Ty made it through school okay. His teacher said he had a good day at school and he realized it wasn't just him when another kid got something taken away today. We are glad to see he made it through another day of Kindergarten and he isn't scarred for life. Silly kid.

Ornament Swap

Tiburon hosted an ornament swap. This is the ornament that my swap partner Suzy sent me. She couldn't have picked any better. I absolutely love snowmen. It is the perfect addition to our Christmas tree. We found snowmen bells with our whole families names on them this year so I am so excited to add this to our snowflake and snowman addition. Thanks Tiburon for the great idea!

Instructions for Clipboards

This is the one I made for Joslyn with the ribbon.

Since I have had a few requests, here are the instructions for the clipboards.

First you take a 12x12 piece of scrapbook paper and cut it 9 x 10 1/2. You take another piece that contrasts and do the same. The leftover 3 inch piece, you cut 9 inches also and makes the second back piece. You cut one plain piece 1 inch by 9 inches. You have to cut the top pieces around the clip part smaller.

You get a wood clipboard and put modge podge with a brush on it. Put your paper on and let it dry. When it dries you go over the top of the paper with the modge podge. Sometimes the paper will bubble.

If it bubbles usually it will go down after it dries.

After it dries you tie matching ribbon on to the clip part. Hence I didn't have that part done in my pictures. Voila, you are done and it only takes about an hour. Very easy. Have fun!

Make sure you modge podge under the paper that overlaps each other. We learned the hard way.

Craft Night, Teacher Gifts

So now that my sister-in-law moved close, we decided that once a month we are going to get together and have some type of craft night. This is what we did last night.

It was so simple and they turned out so cute. I need to learn how to take pictures without shadows though. These are easy teacher gifts and cheap too. I had a lot of fun visiting an making these. Now all of my kids think they need one for some reason or another. I guess if it is a motivator to do homework I guess we can make it work.
