What I Learned This Week

I learned my son has excercise induced asthma, but we got it taken care of before his hershey track meet today. He tried his hardest but he didn't place in his race.

I learned after taking care of my neighbor's 3 kids besides my own for several days I am definitely not cut out to be a mom of 6. Some days I wonder if I am cut out to be a mom of 3.

I have learned that I forgot how much I used to love to excercise before I had kids. We are going to start going to the track every night even though we are not training for my son's track meet anymore. We can all use the excercise.

I have learned it is harder to teach a girl to ride a bike than boys. If you say anything wrong to them they think you are yelling at them and start crying.

If you want to do this, Jo-Lynne at Musings of a Housewife does this every Tuesday.

New Church Calling

They put me into my new church calling today. I am the Bear Scout leader. I guess maybe my son is a stinker so they figure I need to keep him in line. It will be a fun calling. I do most of it with him anyway.

Thankful Thursday

I haven't had anything to blog about. I decided today I would post a thankful Thursday.

My neighbor's husband just had to have surgery on a brain cyst and is still in the hospital. I am grateful for my good health today. It is hard to see her and her kids trying to deal with not knowing how he is doing.

I am also thankful that I have been able to practice running with my son at night for his track meet so that I could discover now he had asthma. We went to the doctor today and got him an inhaler. He could run much easier tonight after using it.

I am thankful that my husband is healthy and able to help take care of me and my kids.

I am thankful that my basement is almost done. I am soon going to have a scrapbook/sewing room. That is going to be nice.

I am thankful that we have had several nice days to be able to go outside. I love to be able to go outside and play with my kids. People always think I am gone in the summer. I just don't take the phone cause we are playing outside. Too bad spring has to play tricks on us.

Spring Break

We went to Goblin Valley with my parent's over spring break. I never thought I would see the day when my 9 year old who is my couch potato, asking to stay longer somewhere. He did not want to leave. This is usually the best time of year besides fall to go. Not this year, it was cold and it even started to snow when we were leaving. We had a great time anyway. We also went out to the desert on the four wheelers. Here are a few pictures.

What I Learned This Week

I have learned a few things. Not thinking, I took my 4 year old to the store with me Easter Bunny shopping. My husband wasn't home and it was the only time I could go. I bought all of the stuff for the easter baskets and didn't think anything of it.
We walked in the door and she told my boys, who are older. Mom is the Easter Bunny. I ruined the Easter Bunny for all 3 of my kids this week. Although my 9 year old was already past that point.

I also found out some people aren't who we thought they were. My husband's dad got remarried about 2 years ago. We thought we got along with the new wife just great but have discovered that she spent two days 3 blocks away from our house at her "real" grandkids house and never once called or even acknowledged my children. If only she realized how bad that made my children feel. Our grandpa was hunting with my husband and she wouldn't even stay at our house or come over. Anyone else ever had this happen?

This week is spring break for our kids. We are going to my mom's house. We get to go to goblin valley in south eastern Utah. We are also taking them to some sand dunes by their house. They are very excited. I think it will be fun. Pictures to come at the end of the week when we return.

These things work wonders

My husband had a pen in the laundry and I didn't know it. When I pulled the clothes out of the dryer today there was ink all over my dryer. Luckily it was just old towels. I was trying to figure out how to get the ink out of my dryer so the next batch didn't get ink on it.

I only had clorox wipes sitting in my cupboard above it so I decided to give it a try. It took the ink right off of my dryer. Maybe they have more uses than just killing germs.

What I Learned This Week

I have learned a few things this week. Some people might think I am crazy after reading this post.

I have suffered from depression since I had my 2nd child. My new neurologist recently changed my medicine. I have been on it for a few weeks now and just realized this week that my other medicine had not been working. I feel like I had been in a dream world looking in. I am finally feeling like my old self again.

After taking my kids toys away, they are quickly learning to pick up after themselves and my house is staying clean. You can read about it here.

Kids have to learn lessons the hard way.

JoLynne at Musings of a Housewife does this carnival every Tuesday if you want to join in.

She Finally Found A Home!

An older guy with another dog came to look at her today and took her home. I am so happy she finally found a good home.

Find Out Friday

It is kind of sad when your kids have to find out for themselves that friends aren't really their friends. We have been trying to tell our 9 year old that a little boy he sometimes plays with has just been using him.

The little boy invited him to his birthday party this week. Our son knows that the boy likes Bakugan. He had me pick out a certain kind at the store since he wanted to get him a special one. The next day the boy came to the house and asked if our son could play but he was gone. Some kids trade these kind of like they do the Pokemon cards.
This is a Bakugan in case you are wondering.

The boy flat out told me that he had traded the Bakugan that my son had given him for his birthday the day before at school that day. When my son got home I recounted the story to him and it made him very upset. He didn't believe me until he talked to the boy the next day at school and found out for himself.

The boy came back to our house yesterday and our son flat out told him he didn't want to play with him. He finally realizes now that the only reason he ever comes over is so he can take what he wants from him. It is sad for kids when they have to find things out for themselves, but it is good when they finally see it for themselves too.

Something More Positive

Since I have been Negative Nelly for the past few posts I decided I should find something positive to post about. On the first week of the month the moms get to stay and watch their kids at my little girl's gymnastics class. Here are a couple of pictures. It is cute to watch these little 3 and 4 year olds do this.

Mommy Meltdown

I get tired of having a messy house, but today I had enough. My kids are almost 10, almost 6 and almost 5. They are plenty old enough to be able to help.

I think with my health problems I have gotten lax with making them help. I am constantly asking them to pick up things.

For the last week all I have heard is I didn't do it or someone else was blamed. I think I have magic mess making elves at my house. This afternoon after asking for about 3 hours of help, I had a meltdown.

Every single toy in the house got taken away for a month. I know it sounds harsh but I have had enough of no one picking up. I am hoping they will listen about cleaning up after themselves.

I took every single thing they like away and locked it in closets. If they want anything to read or color they have to come and get it. If it doesn't get put away when they are done, they don't get to do it.

They were in shock. Hopefully they will think about taking care of their things from now on. I do have a clean house tonight though.
